Absolute (Incl. Lead Guitar)

by Thousand Foot Krutch

Artist: Thousand Foot Krutch
Song: Absolute
Album: The Art of Breaking
Tuning: Drop D

I know that this will be tab number six of this song. I'm just not entirely
pleased with the other tabs. They got mistakes and they don't include the
Lead Guitar, at least not everything. So I hope this tab won't be just
"another one in the pile of tabs", but that it will actually give something
more to the song and help you play the song better. Here we go.

This song uses two guitars, The Lead Guitar and the Rhythm Guitar. The Rhythm
Guitar uses cool distortion for most of the song, while Lead Guitar uses a
more clean kind of sound. Just listen and you'll hear what I mean.

/ = Slide up - Slide from note to note or slide into note
\ = Slide down - Slide from note to note or slide into note
h = Hammer on - Strike the fret with your fret hand without picking note
p = Pull off - Pull off from previous fret to indicated fret
b = Bend - Bend the string to the indicated pitch, use several fingers
~ = Vibrato - Slightly vibrate - bend - the string to get a vibrating tone
x = Scratching - muting a string with your fret hand to get a cool "dead"
sound, or as in this song, mute it so you don't hear the string at all.

Intro: Rhythm Guitar (Slides are optional, but they sound cool:) )
G|--/7-10-7-------9--------7----------9-10-|
D|------------/10-------/8---10---/10------|
A|-----------------------------------------| x2
D|-----------------------------------------|

Intro: Lead Guitar (Rhythm Guitar plays it's riff once first)
E|------10--|--8-------|
B|--10------|------10--| Listen when to play the different sections.
G|----------|----------|
D|----------|----------|

Verse 1: Rhythm Guitar (Same as intro)
G|--/7-10-7-------9--------7----------9-10-|
D|------------/10-------/8---10---/10------|
A|-----------------------------------------| x4
D|-----------------------------------------|

Verse 1: Lead Guitar (Listen to hear when to play the different sections)
E|--13-----|--10------10----10----10----10----10----10----10----10-----|
B|------13-|------10-----10----10----10----10----10----10----10----10--|
G|---------|-----------------------------------------------------------|
D|---------|-----------------------------------------------------------|
                 |Here you start doing a "fade in" with the B|10 notes.

Pre-Chorus 1: Rhythm Guitar (The heavy part, I love it!!!)
G|--77----------77---7---------------------7----7-----------|
D|--xx0---0-0---xx0--x-0-7--3--5-0---0-0---x-0--x-0-3--5--0-|
A|--550---0-0---550--5-0-7--3--5-0---0-0---5-0--5-0-3--5--0-|
D|----0---0-0-----0----0-7--3--5-0---0-0-----0----0-3--5--0-|

No Lead Guitar in the Pre-Choruses, only the rockin' Rhythm Guitar.

  Chorus: Rhythm Guitar
G|-----------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--8-8---83-3---35-5-5-5-0-0--------8-8---83-3---310-10-10-10--x10--x7--|
A|--8-8---83-3---35-5-5-5-0-0--------8-8---83-3---310-10-10-10--x10--x7--|
D|--8-8---83-3---35-5-5-5-0-0-12012128-8---83-3---310-10-10-10--x10--x7--|

G|---------------------------------------------------------------------7-|
D|--8-8---83-3---35-5-5-5-0-0--------8-8---83-3---310-10-10-10-7--3--5-0-|
A|--8-8---83-3---35-5-5-5-0-0--------8-8---83-3---310-10-10-10-7--3--5-0-|
D|--8-8---83-3---35-5-5-5-0-0-12012128-8---83-3---310-10-10-10-7--3--5-0-|
I'm not sure of the 1201212 parts, but something's there and it's played
really soft. The tones are "12 0 12 12" and not "1 2 0 1 2 1 2" by the way.

  Chorus: Lead Guitar
E|--13-15-13---13-13---15-13-13-15-13-15-15-13-|
B|---------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------|

E|-----13-15-13-13---13-15---13-15---15-13-15--|
B|--15-----------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------|

E|--13-13------15---15---13-13-15-15--|
B|------------------------------------|
G|------------------------------------|
D|------------------------------------|

E|--13-13-13--13-13------13-15-17--15p13--|
B|--------------------15------------------|
G|----------------------------------------|
D|----------------------------------------|

Post-Chorus: Lead Guitar (Stronger sound, sounds like it's got some tremolo)
E|--------------------------0-h1--------------|
B|------3-----3-----3-----3------3------------|
G|----2-----2-----2-----2---------------------|
D|--0-----------------------------------------|
A|--------3-----2-----1-----0-----------------|
D|--------------------------------------------|

Verse 2: Rhythm Guitar plays intro/verse riff four times. Nothing different.

Verse 2: Lead Guitar (Listen to hear when to play the different sections)
E|------|------17--|-----17--17--17--17--|
B|--10--|--15------|--15-----------------|
G|------|----------|---------------------|
D|------|----------|---------------------|

Now the last part is strange. If you listen carefully you hear 3 guitars at
the same time. You've got the Intro/Verse riff still going, you hear those
17 fretted notes of the Lead Guitar, some high-pitched noise, and then I guess
it's the Rhythm Guitar that plays this:
G|-------------------------------|
D|-------------------------------|
A|--55555555555555553h55555555~--|
D|-------------------------------|
Fade in to here-----|

So technically it wouldn't be possible to do 3 guitars with 2 guitars at a
concert, but they can do it on a studio recorded song like this one.

Pre-Chorus 2: Rhythm Guitar (Slightly different than the first pre-chorus)
G|------------7-----7---------------------77---7-----------|
D|--0---0-0---x-0--0x-0-7--3--5-0---0-0---xx0--x-0-3--5--0-|
A|--0---0-0---5-0--05-0-7--3--5-0---0-0---550--5-0-3--5--0-|
D|--0---0-0-----0--0--0-7--3--5-0---0-0-----0----0-3--5--0-|

The second chorus is the same as the first for both guitars, but Rhythm Guitar
only plays G|7 instead of the final chord.

Bridge: Lead Guitar (Same sound as the post-chorus) UNFINISHED
E|--------------------------------0-h1--------------------------0-h1--|
B|--3-------------------2-------2------3---3-----3-3---3~-----3-------|
G|--2-----------0-----0---0---0--------2-2-----2---2-2------0---------|
D|--0-----------------------------------------------------------------|
A|----------3-------2-------1-----0----------3------------------------|
D|--------------------------------------------------------------------|

  Here Trevor starts singing again
E|--------------0---------0-h1-------------0-----------0-h1--|
B|------3-----3---3------------3---3-----3-----3-3---3-------|
G|----2-------------0---0------2-2-----2---------------------|
D|--0--------------------------0-----------------------------|
A|--------3-----------1--------------3-----------------------|
D|-----------------------------------------------------------|

E|------------------------0-h1-------------------------0-h1--|
B|------3-----------3---3----------3-----3-----3-----3-------|
G|----2-------0-------0----------2-----0-----0-----0---------|
D|--0---------x----------------0-----------------------------|
A|--------3---3-2-----1--------------------------------------|
D|-----------------------------------3-----2-----1-----------|

E|--------------------------0-h1--|
B|------3-----3-----3-----3-------|
G|----2-----0-----0-----0---------|
D|--0-----------------------------|
A|--------------------------------|
D|--------3-----2-----1-----------|

Bridge: Rhythm Guitar (Last part, acts like a Lead Guitar)
E|-----------------------|
B|-----------------------| Starts at 2:13, first section is very weak.
G|--10b12b10---7~---9-10-| Listen for correct bending timing.
D|-----------------------|

E|------------------------------------------------------------------------10~|
B|-----------------------------------------------------------8~-----10~------|
G|-9b10b9---7~-----10b12b10---7~-----9-10-----7~-----10~---------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Third Chorus: Rhythm Guitar (Different ending)

B|---------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------|

E|--13--13---15-13-15---15-13-15---15-13-15----|

E|--15-13-13-15-13-15-13---13-15-13---13-------|
B|---------------------------------------------|
G|---------------------------------------------|
D|---------------------------------------------|

Final Chorus: Rythm Guitar (More "pumping" rhythm than the first choruses)
G|---------------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--8-8-8-8-3-3-3-3-5-5-5-5-0-0--------8-8-8-8-3-3-3-3-10-10-10-10--x10--x7--|

D|--8-8-8-8-3-3-3-3-5-5-5-5-0-0-12012128-8-8-8-3-3-3-3-10-10-10-10--x10--x7--|

G|-------------------------------------------------------------------------7-|
D|--8-8-8-8-3-3-3-3-5-5-5-5-0-0--------8-8-8b---3-3-3---10-10-10---7--3--5-0-|

  Final Chorus: Lead Guitar

B|-----20----20----20----20---20-18-20----------------|
G|----------------------------------------------------|
D|----------------------------------------------------|

It sounds like the high-pitched noises in the end could be guitar related,
but anyway, I didn't tab it. It hardly sounded like anything you could tab.

Another guy who tabbed this song said this:
"Everyone is making this such a long and drawn out and down right difficult
song when the reality is... IT'S SIMPLE!!!!"
Well yeah, the Rhythm Guitar might be simple, but tabbing both guitars took
more than 8 hours for me to do! (I've lost count) I wanted to get everything
as near perfect as it could be, and with the Lead Guitar and the Bridge it was
sometimes awfully hard to hear exactly what was played. This tab was loads of
work so I would be thankful for some response and some feedback. In other
words, please comment this tab!!! Tell me what you think and tell me if you
find mistakes. Hope you can learn something from this tab. TFK ROCKS!!!
God Bless,
Daniel
