Rawkfist (Corrected)

by Thousand Foot Krutch

Artist: Thousand Foot Krutch
Song: Rawkfist
Album: Phenomenon
Tuning: Drop D

Okay, a little word for my defence... I know it is version number 13 and I have
already done one already, but this is after all "the tab that never dies" lol
I found out that they use some "double octaves" and a few other things that
gives a lot of flavor to the song, so I had to tab it down.

So what is a double octave? It is an extended powerchord, it is really simple,
and I made up the name myself, since I do not know what they are called :)
Example: An E5 powerchord consists of one E note, one B note and one E note an
octave higher. An "E double octave" has another B note, which is an octave
higher. So it becomes a double octave.
G|--4--|
D|--2--|
A|--2--| (Get it? :) )
D|--2--|

You can also add another E in the third octave:
E|-----|
B|--5--|
G|--4--|
D|--2--|
A|--2--|
D|--2--|

These techniques can be used on all powerchords and works perfectly nice for
Drop D and other drop tunings, but double octaves also work in standard if
you are good at stretching your pinky finger. Okay, enough lessons for today :)

This song uses two guitars, like all the TFK songs do. The Lead Guitar plays
only in the verses and in the "solo". I do not know if it really is a solo, but
that is what people keep calling it so I will go with that. The Rhythm Guitar
uses distortion all the way through and the Lead Guitar has a brighter, less
distorted sound.

/ = Slide up (Slide from note to note or slide into)
h = Hammer on
p = Pull off
pb = "Pull-bend". Same as a pull-off, just bend slightly while pulling off
x = Scratching, mute strings with your fret hand to get a cool "dead" sound
b = Bend strings slightly
P.M. or ... = Palm Muting
^ = Marks where Lead Guitar plays E7#9 chord during the solo part.

Intro: Rhythm Guitar (The hardest part lol)
G|--------|
D|--2--2--|
A|--2--2--|
D|--2--2--|

Verse 1: Rhythm Guitar (Part 1)
G|-----xxxx---xxxxxxxx---xxxx---xxxxxxxx|
D|---/9xxxx7/9xxxxxxxx7/9xxxx7/9xxxxxxxx|
A|---/7xxxx5/7xxxxxxxx5/7xxxx5/7xxxxxxxx|
D|-----xxxx---xxxxxxxx---xxxx---xxxxxxxx|

G|-----xxxx----xxxxxxxx---xxxxxx---------|
D|--7/9xxxx9---xxxxxxxx7/9xxxxxx5-4-0----| (At the pull-off chord, do not play
A|--5/7xxxx10p7xxxxxxxx5/7xxxxxx5-4-0----| the D string too hard or it will
D|-----xxxx----xxxxxxxx---xxxxxx5-4-0----| sound bad)

  (Part 2)
G|-----xxxx---xxxxxxxx---xxxx---xxxxxxxx|
D|--0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx|
A|--0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx|
D|--0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx|

G|-----xxxx---xxxxxxxx---xxxxxx---------|
D|--0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx0h2xxxxxx5-4-0----|
A|--0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx0h2xxxxxx5-4-0----|
D|--0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx0h2xxxxxx5-4-0----|

Verse 1: Lead Guitar (Natural harmonics, plays only at part 1s scratchings)
E|--------|-----|---------|-----|--7-7-77---|--------|
B|--------|-----|---------|-----|--------9--|-----9--|
G|--7-777-|--7--|--7-7-7--|--7--|--7-7------|--7-----|
D|--------|-----|---------|-----|-----------|--------|

Plays only at part 1s scratchings, listen to hear when to play the different
sections. It is important that you play natural harmonics and not real tones!

Chorus: Rhythm Guitar (This is what I think it sounds like, let chords ring)
G|-------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--2-----0----0----7--7--7-7---7---2-----0----0----7--7--7-10---10--|
A|--2-----0----0----7--7--7-7---7---2-----0----0----7--7--7-10---10--|x2
D|--2-----0----0----7--7--7-7---7---2-----0----0----7--7--7-10---10--|

Chorus: Rhythm Guitar (This is more of what it LOOKS like, let chords ring)
G|----------------------------------------------------------5---5--|
D|--2-----0----0----7--7--0-7---7---2-----0----0----7--7--0-5---5--|
A|--2-----0----0----7--7--0-7---7---2-----0----0----7--7--0-3---3--|x2
D|--2-----0----0----7--7--0-7---7---2-----0----0----7--7--0--------|

It LOOKS like he is playing something an octave higher on the video, but that
really does not sound good at all.

Post-Chorus: Rhythm Guitar (That wonderful little riff)
G|--7--2--4---xx---7--2--9--|
D|--5--0--2---xx---5--0--7--|
A|--5--0--2---xx---5--0--7--|
D|--5--0--2---xx---5--0--7--|

Verse 2: Rhythm Guitar (Part 1)
G|-----xxxx---xxxxxxxx---xxxx---xxxxxxxx|
D|-----xxxx---xxxxxxxx---xxxx---xxxxxxxx|
A|--5h7xxxx5h7xxxxxxxx5h7xxxx5h7xxxxxxxx|
D|-----xxxx---xxxxxxxx---xxxx---xxxxxxxx|

G|-----xxxx---xxxxxxxx---xxxxxx---------|
D|--7/9xxxx7/9xxxxxxxx7/9xxxxxx5-4-0----|
A|--5/7xxxx5/7xxxxxxxx5/7xxxxxx5-4-0----|
D|-----xxxx---xxxxxxxx---xxxxxx5-4-0----|
                               |--------| Shutter effect is added here
  (Part 2)
G|-----xxxx---xxxxxxxx2--xxxx---xxxxxxxx|
D|--0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx|
A|--0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx|
D|--0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx|

G|--2--xxxx2--xxxxxxxx2--xxxxxx7-6-2----|
D|--0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx0h2xxxxxx5-4-0----| You have to be really good at muting
A|--0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx0h2xxxxxx5-4-0----| off the chords so that the 2s do not
D|--0h2xxxx0h2xxxxxxxx0h2xxxxxx5-4-0----| ring into the scratching part.

Verse 2: Lead Guitar (Natural harmonics, plays only at part 1s scratchings)
E|-----|---------|-----|------------|-----|--7--7--|-----|
B|-----|---------|-----|------------|--7--|--7--7--|-----|
G|--7--|--7--77--|--7--|--7--77777--|--7--|--7--7--|--7--|
D|-----|---------|-----|------------|-----|--------|-----|

Chorus

Post-Chorus

Now for the fun part. Let your index finger and ringfinger take the double
octaves and let your pinky finger do the bends. The part with the hammer-ons
and pull-offs might be all straight notes. I am not really sure, since I do
most of my tabbing unplugged. Anyway, "Throw up ya Rawkfist!!!"

  Bridge: Rhythm Guitar
B|----------------------5---------------------------------------------------|
G|--4----------4--------4----------------4-----47-4-------------------------|
D|--2------2---2-----2--2----------------2-----25-2-----xxx----xxxxx----xxxx|
A|--2------2---2-----2--2----------------2-----25-2-----xxx2---xxxxx1---xxxx|
D|--2------25b-2-----2--------2-h5pb2h5b-2-----25-2-----xxx----xxxxx----xxxx|

D|--2------25b-2-----2----2-25-2---xx2-----25b-2---xxx----xxxxx----xxxx|

G|--4--4--|
D|--2--2--|
A|--2--2--|x4
D|--2--2--|

Here is my version of the pre-solo: (They might be playing this on the CD)
G|--4--4--|--4--4--|-----4--|--4-----|
D|--2--2--|--2--2--|--2--2--|--2--2--|
A|--2--2--|--2--2--|--2--2--|--2--2--|
D|--2--2--|--2--2--|--2--2--|--2--2--|

Solo and Outro: Rhythm Guitar (Really good for practising pinky stretching)
G|--------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--------------------------------------------------------------------|
A|--------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|--7252---7252---7252-252---7252---7252-252---7252---7252-252---7252-|
                                            ^ ^ ^ ^

G|------------------------------------------4---------4-----4--4------|
D|------------------------------------------2-----2---2-----2--2------|
A|------------------------------------------2-----2---2-----2--2------|
D|--7252-252---7252---7252-252---7252---72522-----25b-2-----2--2------|
            ^ ^ ^ ^

The solo is played with hammer-ons and pull-offs: D|--7p2h5p2--|

Solo: Lead Guitar (Plays E7#9 chord at all the markings)
E|-----|
B|--8--|
G|--7--| I do not know if the base note is actually played because it sounds
D|--6--| kinda bright. They might skip it, or they put the "weight" of the
A|-(7)-| chord on the brighter string. I put the base note inside brackets.
D|-----|

Thats all. Sorry again about making another Rawkfist version, but I really
think these added notes make you come a lot closer to "the real thing". (And I
do not mean Coca-Cola lol) So please tell me what you think, and if this one
aint perfect, then I guess someone will just have to make another version :)
TFK ROCKS!!!
God Bless,
Daniel
