Are Angels real? Do they operate in the realm of mortals, in this 20th century? Has anyone seen an angel and if they exist, what are they doing here?

Evangelist Billy Graham’s book, Angels is a best-seller and Pope John Paul recently gave several lectures on the reality of angels and Satan.

And Mike Talma believes he encountered two angelic beings on a lonely country road, near Barrhead about 30 years ago!

CAR A TOTAL WRITE-OFF

At the time Mike was drunk, his car a total write-off and according to the nurses and doctor who attended him, he should have been dead.

He now believes, the two men dressed in white robes who came to the scene of the accident at 3 am, in a shiny black automobile, were angels.

And that they saved his life!

Mike Talma is not the kind of man to stand behind a pulpit, but some time ago on CKER’s Nightwatch program, he opened up.

The eventful night began with Mike and two buddies making bets, to see who could drink the most beer. After five hours in the bar, they agreed to meet again at a “country dance”. Mike, however, decided he needed more to drink, so polished off a 26-ounce bottle of lemon gin, straight.

It was starting to rain as he headed down the highway. And that’s all he remembers until he saw the concrete abutment directly before him.

Three hours later, Mike regained consciousness. The engine was lying on the seat beside him, the hind wheels had been thrown across the bridge and the front wheels and chassis in the other direction.

As Mike crawled out of the wreck, two men dressed in white were standing in the rain, beside a spotless black car.

‘No Broken Bones’

“We’ve come to take you to a place where they will check you over. As far as we can see, there are no broken bones - all you’ll need is a few bandages and a good sleep”, said the strangers.

“I thought they were doctors, but wondered how they could know my condition standing there in the dark”, Mike recalled.

“Who are you, anyway?” he asked.

They helped Mike into the car, saying he should relax. As they sped away, Mike was shocked! They were driving without lights, it was like they were floating, with no bumps.

“Are you guys drunk? Don’t you know you can get a ticket for driving without lights? How can you see in the dark?

“Who are you”, he asked again.

“We have been sent to help you”, they replied politely. “One day you will meet us again, and recognize us”.

In a few moments they were escorting him into the Barrhead Hospital.

The nurse looked up in amazement and saw Mike standing at her desk. She asked, “What happened to you? Where did you come from”?

“I came in through those doors, like anyone else” he answered. “How could you? The doors have been locked since visiting hours ended”! answered the nurse.

“I was in an accident and these two men brought me in here”, he replied.

“Which men?” she asked.

“These men” replied Mike, pointing to both sides, but there was no one there! The nurse rushed out to get additional information, but there was no one in the parking lot.

The shiny black automobile and the men dressed in white, were gone!

Upon examination, the doctor found no broken bones or injuries; only seven deep facial cuts, which he taped.

Mike often thought about the strange episode, but told only a few people. About a dozen years ago when he began reading the Bible, it all came together. And when he gave his heart to Jesus Christ, a new life opened up for him and his family!

One thing is sure, he’s glad to be alive and gives God all the praise.
