Intro: Everyone has been influenced by someone. Everyone Christian has an influence on those around them. Sometimes though that influence may not be seen until years later. Examples of preacher whose influence was not seen for years, Paul in this passage would talk about the manifestation of the truth.
1. We have an influence by the things that we do.
a. Christ would teach this in John 10:22-30, 37.
b. People measure us by what we do. 2nd Cor. 5:20
c. We influence when we are not ashamed. Romans 1:16
2. We have an influence in the things we don't do. Eph. 5:11
a. People see us avoiding places that might cause us to sin. Showing them that we realize that we will be held accountable for our actions.
b. There are things that should not be associated with us. Vs. 3 - 5.
c. People see that we don't accept everything as truth.
3. We even influence the brethren. 1st John 2:1
a. Some influence those who may be weak to be strong. Examples of Christians who helped others during hard times. 2nd Timothy 2:1-3, unfaithful attendance.
b. Some influence the young people, even at an early age.
