Ephesians 4:11 (NKJV)
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,
Ephesians 4:12 (NKJV)
for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
Ephesians 4:13 (NKJV)
till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
Ephesians 4:14 (NKJV)
that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,
Ephesians 4:15 (NKJV)
but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head; Christ;
Ephesians 4:16 (NKJV)
from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
The growth of the body of Christ is instrumental in salvation for lost souls. This is why the church exist and why God provided the way of salvation. In our study of unity, we must learn what we are to be united in. Primarily and utmost is the truth.
2 Corinthians 4:13 (NKJV)
And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I believed and therefore I spoke," we also believe and therefore speak,
We have an obligation to speak the truth when we learn it. If we try to supress the truth, we will be as a false teacher. If our words are comfortable with us, we will suppress the truth. The truth may not be pleasing, but it is always right. When we learn it, we must speak it to others.
John 12:42 (NKJV)
Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue;
Because of other people and what others might think, the truth has been kept away and back from the people. The truth has suffered because of selfishness on the part of the people and the selfishness of the preachers.
Jeremiah 20:8-9 (NKJV)
For when I spoke, I cried out; I shouted, "Violence and plunder!" Because the word of the LORD was made to me A reproach and a derision daily. {9} Then I said, "I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name." But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.
I sometimes wonder if I could retire from preaching or take a leave of absense; and I realize that the answer is NO!. I know the truth and am obligated before God to preach it. Just like:
Acts 4:13 (NKJV)
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.
Acts 4:19 (NKJV)
But Peter and John answered and said to them, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.
We must preach the truth so that people can be made free from sins.
John 8:32 (NKJV)
"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
John 16:13 (NKJV)
"However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
The work of the Holy Spirit was to guide the apostles and the writers of the Bible into all truth. This means that nothing would be left out. The bible is the truth.
John 17:17 (NKJV)
"Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
John 14:6 (NKJV)
Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
The price is too great to pay by not following the truth.
2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV)
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Responsibility is place upon us to learn His word and apply His word and teach His word. But some do not follow all of His word.
2 Thessalonians 2:11 (NKJV)
And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,
2 Thessalonians 2:12 (NKJV)
that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
The way it should be for us.
Psalms 119:97 (NKJV)
Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.
Can we rightfully say this? Is God's law written on your heart and do you think about Him all the time. No, because we still go on with our daily lives, but our lives should mirror His word, and we should do nothing that goes against it.
Galatians 4:16 (NKJV)
Have I therefore become your enemy because I tell you the truth?
The biggest fear of preachers is that they become an enemy. Because of this, they preach a doctrine of accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative. This will be their condemnation. No matter how right their doctrine, if they don't preach the whole council of God, they will lose their souls.
Galatians 6:6 (NKJV)
Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.
An indication of payback. Not in money or goods, but blessings and devopment to be able to teach others.
2 John 1:4 (NKJV)
I rejoiced greatly that I have found some of your children walking in truth, as we received commandment from the Father.
To remain faithful would produce great joy for the one who teaches you.
1 John 3:14 (NKJV)
We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.
James 5:19-20 (NKJV)
Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back,{20} let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.
For those who have neglected the truth, there is great joy when they return to it. We who know the truth
have the obligation to teach them, because we have the same love for their souls that God has.
Ephesians 4:11 (NKJV)
