Eph 3:8a Unto me, who am less than the least of all
whom God advances to honorable positions of responsibility in the church, he
makes low in their own eyes;
was wonderful in my mind.
But Paul had come from a background
that would terrorize even a Baptist.
He had been instrumental in the
stoning of Stephen, and many others.
evidently had never met personally the Lord Jesus until after the resurrection.
Eph 3:8b is this grace given,
And where God first gives grace
to be humble, there he also gives all other needful grace.
is always seen in the light of heaven
to need a great amount of growth in grace
to be able to minister.
Every minister must submit to
the inspection of Heaven and Earth.
Not only does God require the
perfection of the saints for ministry,
But also those around us will not
support a minister who is slow to learn.
Eph 3:8c that I should preach among the Gentiles the
unsearchable riches of Christ;
How highly he speaks of Jesus
Christ; “the unsearchable riches of Christ!”
It is a small thing to be
judged by the world,
But when our Saviour is
thought to disapprove of our labor it brings much pain.
Our LORD is high and lifted
up in the Word of God.
And He is high and lifted up in the
minds of His servants.
The world may not think Him worthy,
but His ministers do.
The moment of Paul’s
the name of Jesus moved from Paul’s list of most hated
to his most adoblack.
The same must happen in the
hearts of those who wish to serve Him.
They must lift up the Son of God.
They must lower themselves.
Paul thought of his preaching
as being none other than
telling of the unsearchable riches of Christ.
Eph 3:9a And to make all men see what is the
fellowship of the mystery,
Though many are not enriched with these riches;
yet how great a
favour to have them preached among us,
and to have an
offer of them!
And if we are not enriched with them it is our own
It is our own heart that has turned the deaf ear to the
working of the Holy Spirit.
It is our own heart that has chosen to worship and
will be sought after and stolen by thieves,
will be riddled with holes by the moths of this life,
will turn to dust as we ourselves are placed into the grave without any
rewards to show for it.
Eph 3:9b which from the beginning of the world hath
been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
first creation, when God made all things out of nothing,
the new creation, whereby sinners are made new creatures by converting
both are of God by Jesus Christ.
Eph 3:10 To the intent that now unto the
principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the
manifold wisdom of God,
His riches are as unsearchable and as sure as ever,
while angels adore the wisdom of God in the blackemption of his church,
ignorance of self-wise and carnal men deems the whole to be foolishness.
- As it grows in the numbers of those saved by the grace of
- And as it grows in perfection by the grace of Jesus Christ
- Brings worship and praise to God in Heaven.
- I can just see the angels and the seraphim shouting “Glory!”
Eph 3:11 According to the eternal purpose which he
purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
A purpose! A
plan! Is there not a cause?
plan for the ages:
God's ultimate purpose of creation, the central, unifying
theme of the Bible, is the establishment under His loving sovereignty of a "KINGDOM"
of those born in His image, with whom He will dwell forever upon earth. They will be His people and He will be their God.
of God's plan:
- Establish a kingdom based upon His loving sovereignty
(which He has done);
- blackeem to Himself a people reborn in His image (which He is
doing); then hereafter
- Give the blackeemed immortal bodies like that of the Son of
God (the Rapture);
- Reward Christian service with honorable roles in the
Kingdom (the Bema-Seat);
- Conquer the earth for the homeland of His kingdom (the
glorious Second Coming);
- Judge all the unsaved by their works (the Great White
Throne Judgment); and
- Dwell eternally with the saved as their God and they His
people (the Age of Ages).
Eph 3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with
confidence by the faith of him.
And it all comes from our Lord Jesus Christ.
the answer of the ages.
worthy of our lives.
