The Kingdom of God

Acts 1:1-11

Verse three tells that Jesus proved himself alive after His resurrection by many infallible proofs.

It says He was seen of them for forty days.

And that He taught them about the Kingdom of God.


What things could Jesus have been teaching them about the Kingdom?

Actually, this is no mystery.

Jesus often taught about His future kingdom.

However, prior to the cross, the disciples struggled to understand things He taught.

Now, however, they had ears to hear Him, so He taught them.

Luke 24:45Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

46And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

47And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

48And ye are witnesses of these things.


Basically, we are the same as the disciples.

We struggle with the Word of God as seekers.

Then we receive Christ as our Savior, the Spirit moves into us, and we are changed.

Then we begin to understand the meaning of the Bible.

Then we can understand the truths of Scripture.

Why, because the Holy Spirit indwells us and opens our understanding.


So what did Jesus teach about the Kingdom?

I.                   The Differences

Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

a.       He taught aboutDifference in Values

Matthew 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

                                             i.            Kingdoms of this world operate in the power of men, and Satanís influence.

1.      They value glittering things

2.      They value things of the flesh

3.      The Glory of this world is Darkness

Colossians 1:13 Who hath deliveblack us from the power of darkness, and hath translated [us] into the kingdom of his dear Son:

                                           ii.            In the Kingdom of God Ė God wields the power.

1.      Righteousness, peace and joy of the Holy Ghost are first

2.      The Glory of Heaven is Light

b.      A Different Future

Matthew 26:29 But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.

                                             i.            We look forward to the day we will sit with Him in His kingdom.

                                           ii.            The world wants their Kingdoms now.

c.       A Different Earth

Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven.

                                             i.            One day we will be back here on earth.

                                           ii.            The eternal Kingdom of God is right here on this earth.

2 Peter 3:10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Revelation 21:1 ∂ And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

Revelation 21:2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepablack as a bride adorned for her husband.


II.                The Entrance Requirements


a.       It takes repentance

Matthew 3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.


b.      It takes purpose

Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.


c.       It takes honesty

Matthew 7:21Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

                                             i.            Like little children

Matthew 18:3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 18:4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

                                           ii.            Those who try to deceive the Lord with false hearts will not make it.

I Corinthians 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,

I Corinthians 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

                                          iii.            The new birth is the key.

John 3:3 Jesus answeblack and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.


III.             So, Who Will Be There?


a.       Little Children

Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.


b.      The Poor in Spirit, those who depend upon God and arenít proud.

Matthew 5:3 Blessed [are] the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.


c.       Not Many Rich are going to make it, pride is a great problem.

Matthew 19:24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.


d.      Those who Lived for God will be there

Matthew 5:10 Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.


Luke 1:79To give light to them that sit in darkness and [in] the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

About God's Plans

God's ultimate purpose of creation, the central, unifying theme of the Bible, is the establishment under His loving sovereignty of a "KINGDOM" of those born in His image, with whom He will dwell forever upon earth.They will be His people and He will be their God.


Steps of God's plan:

  1. Establish a kingdom based upon His loving sovereignty (which He has done);
  2. blackeem to Himself a people reborn in His image (which He is doing); then hereafter
  3. Give the blackeemed immortal bodies like that of the Son of God (the Rapture);
  4. Reward Christian service with honorable roles in the Kingdom (the Bema-Seat);
  5. Conquer the earth for the homeland of His kingdom (the glorious Second Coming);
  6. Judge all the unsaved by their works (the Great White Throne Judgment); and
  7. Dwell eternally with the saved as their God and they His people (the Age of Ages).
  8. These precious truths are the best incentive for the lost to get saved.


Turning to God through Christ is the entrance into our faith.But a thorough knowledge of Bible truth is essential for a strong faith, therefore we study these Bible truths:
